About Brian Girdlestone< back
Brian has always been driven to be in business. The foundation of his business experience was laid in retail, initially when he bought into a wholesale jewellery business, travelling internationally and helping to grow the business into the largest wholesaler of gold & diamond jewellery in New Zealand. From there he acquired a 50% interest in Newbolds Lower Hutt, a Fisher & Paykel franchise electronics store. Brian's experience with the Newbolds Group has included positions as owner and manager of several successful Newbolds Fisher & Paykel franchise electronic stores as well as the Newbolds Service Centre, also as negotiator for the acquisition of the New Zealand-wide Selectrix retail stores for the Newbolds Group and others.
It was here Brian developed his innovative approach to sales and marketing and his commonsense style of people management.
Keen to share his passion for business and problem solving following the disposition of his total Newbolds assets, Brian began mentoring other companies. At the same time he established Wanaka Adventures that offers extreme hunting and fly fishing breaks for corporate clients and then project managed the construction of three multi-million residential properties in Wellington having total control of all purchasing, building, architectural and council planning processes to code of compliance.
Brian enjoys getting completely involved with those people in business that he is guiding, with a ‘hands on’ attitude and working together to find creative solutions to their business issues.
When he met Fred Stewart from Business Doctors New Zealand in 2011 Brian found their shared passion for SME'S and business genrally and the need this group have for real 'coal face' advisory support meant a working assocaiation seemed inevitable . "We both felt we had
built excellent relationships with a wide range of people from top management to the back bone of any business, the workers on the shop floor".
